Congratulations to the Eisenhower Elementary School Peer Buddies, who were honored by our Board of Education at its March 25 meeting!

Peer Buddies are 3rd-graders who buddy up with autistic students in their classroom setting. The Peer Buddies engage in activities that promote social interactions, and act as role models for appropriate play skills. They showed a video of them working and playing alongside their buddies in class and gave testimonials about how fulfilling it is to help their fellow students to learn.

The students received certificates from Board of Education President Nancy Salgado-Cowan, Superintendent Erskine R. Glover, and Board Member Prashant Patel, who is Board liaison to Eisenhower. They were supported at the meeting by Eisenhower Principal Vincenzo Stio, teachers Dana Pepe, Michele Crisitello, Jennifer Ramirez, and Sonia Algoo, and Counselor Sara Haarburger.
