Welcome Letter

Hello and welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Mrs. LaMorte and I will be your Kindergarten teacher this year. We will also have another teacher with us in the morning named Mrs. Perry.  We hope you are having a great summer so far and having lots of fun. We can’t wait to hear about all of the fun things you have been doing!

Our room is number 2 and it is all ready for your first day of Kindergarten so I hope you are excited.  I can’t wait to see you on the first day of school! Make sure that you go to bed nice and early each night so that you are ready for school and all the fun things that we will do.

Parents/Guardians, I want to welcome you as well!  During the upcoming year, we will be working closely together to make sure your child gets the most out of Kindergarten.

Here are a few things that will help start off the new Kindergarten year right.

Supplies

  • Backpack- please make sure that the backpack is big enough to fit your child’s folder and lunch box. Please do not send in the luggage type backpacks (backpacks with wheels)
  • Lunch box labeled with your child’s name
  • One hard pencil case labeled with your child’s name
  • 3 24 count box of Crayola crayons*
  • 1 box of tissues
  • 2 packages of baby wipes

Snacks
Please send a small healthy snack in a separate bag in your child’s backpack labeled with snack and your child’s name each day. Pretzels, popcorn, fruit, vegetables, graham crackers, or yogurt would be appropriate for this time. In addition, please practice opening food items with your child at home so that they may do so on their own when they eat at school.

Preparation

In Kindergarten, your child will learn the foundation of many skills that they will build upon as they go through school.  Not only will your child learn academics, your child will also learn social skills, self-help skills, and responsibility.  During the summer, please work with your child on tying shoes, buttoning and zippering.  Also, begin to give your child little responsibilities such as, cleaning up after themselves, putting their clothes on in the morning, and cleaning off the table.  Becoming an independent child is very important and these are a few ways to get that started.

Please label all of your child’s belongings, so that it may be returned to your child if your child loses it.

I am looking forward to meeting and working with you and your child for the 2021-2022 school year.  Have a safe and fun summer.  See you soon!
